Currently, donovanosis is relatively rare in the United States, with about 100 cases reported per year, and the United Kingdom, but it is more common in some parts of the world as parts of India, Papua, New Guinea, the Caribbean, Central Australia and Southern Africa.This disease is not the same as necrotizing fasciitis, a disease that eats meat that can be caused by bacteria such as the group A Streptococcus You might get necrotizing fasciitis in your genitals but getting donovanosis is different. Donovanosis may result in painless ulcers in your genital region that gradually spread and get worse. These lesions have a lot of blood vessels in them and therefore appear red and bloody. While being a biscuit can be attractive, having red lesions on the genitals is not and can lead to genital damage and healing, which can be permanent. It can also develop soft red nodules, spiced called subcutaneous granulomas or pseudobuboes. The infection can spread to the rest of the pelvis or even the organs of the abdomen, bones, or mouth. Fortunately, you can use antibiotics such as azithromycin, doxycycline, ciprofloxacin, erythromycin, and trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole to treat donovanosis.
